Naumanndragracing.com  is the evolution of nearly 50 years and three generations of gear heads in Texas.  Starting with Grandpa Robert and his gas station on 34th Street in Central Austin, then later father Damon who motivated me to get my hands dirty and find out how things work.  Now with the next generation helping to continue the work on cars and enjoying drag racing, there may be more racers in the family.

For me, the start was with model cars and watching my dad do frame off restorations (me holding the light) on 60’s Olds 442, and 50’s Austin Healey, to my first car, a 1968 Mustang.  Racing really started when my dad bought me a 1967 Camaro with a 327 and 4-speed in high school.  Boy that thing was fast and in the 1970’s, not much else was faster!  I had the tickets to prove it!  Finally realizing faster is better; I moved to a 172 inch Woody Gilmore “A” dragster front engine car with a small block Chevy and powerglide on gas.

Fast-forward to now and we’re using technology developed out of the old days and fine-tuned to go faster than before.  Now we’re on alcohol and making more horsepower than in anything before.  Drag racing is the only motorsport I follow closely and participate in since more work goes into a quarter-mile run than in most any other form of motor racing.  I’ve raced cars and motorcycles on the street and strip, but I’ve always had the passion for the dragsters.

Keep watching for new stuff and future things we will be working on.  Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down, but keep racin’!
